Deogiri College, Aurangabad run by the Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal’s Aurangabad. It is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Maratwada University, Aurangabad. It is one of the foremost colleges in Marathwada Region. It is established in the year 1960. The College is a leading and distinguished center of higher education. With a perfect confluence of conventional and unconventional courses, Deogiri College offers the programs of graduation and post graduation in various subjects related to Arts, Commerce, Science along with Management and Biotechnology courses and M.Phil., Ph.D. research facilities in the subjects like English, Marathi, Hindi, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Library Science, Physical Education, Chemistry, Geology, Psychology, Physics, Electronics, Zoology, Botany, Mathematics and so on. The college has established its image as an institution possessing empathy for sufferings of massages. Its efforts and contribution in various social movements have been appreciated. The staff of college has been on its toes to contribute to social cause. The region in which the college is situated is prone to drought conditions. The conditions of certain part in the region worsen during summer due to lack of water. College has taken special efforts for such villages to provide them with water supply and necessary development. The streaming of the events, works and activities of NSS, NCC, Department of Music, Department of Dramatics and the College Library has resulted into meaningful services to various sections of society. The College also tries to improve the lives of individuals with visually impaired and differently-baled students by increasing awareness among the general public and thereby transforming the general attitude in society towards such individuals. This transformation will increase empathy and improve access to opportunities that are currently inaccessible due to lack of infrastructure and misinterpretations of disabilities among the general public. Acceptance and inclusion of disabled people is the most important aspect for their development. Therefore, the college has been working continuously for the betterment of the Visually Impaired Students. College library has its own importance in higher education. The library is a key to the world of knowledge and acquisition of knowledge will help enlighten the personality of an individual at the vital, spiritual and mental levels and will inculcate social virtues and foster intellectual development to make him a worthy citizen. Our college library has tried level is best to provide necessary material to all the components of the college and looked after the quantitative growth in library facilities. We are also connected to other college libraries under the inter library loan Facilities, e-Library facilities with INFLIBNET N-List consortia. The library is fully computerizes with bar-coding of books and Computerize Circulation, and library membership cards are done. The library has purchased LIB- MAN Library Software developed by Master Software Pvt. Ltd. Nagpur. Deogiri College library was also established in the year 1960 with only 848 books and one Cup Board as storage space. Foundation stone of the Library Building was laid on 14th Sept. 1985 by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar. The fifth law of library science namely “Library is Growing Organism” is also one of the goals of our library today we have more than 139357 books and more than 13472570 E-Books & subscribe to 104368 print non print periodical / journals and many other reading informative material . The importance of this Library lies not only in its large collection of books, periodicals and its Audio / MP3 Books but the Library of the College is equipped with state-to-the art facilities of advance hardware and software necessary for visually challenged students which an environment for learning and assistive technology research. To keep pace with the ever-expanding field of knowledge the library is being updated from time to time.
